The Multilateral Working Group in partnership with PWP – Portuguese Water Partnership and the Asian Development Bank received, in Lisbon, during the 8th and 9th of April, four high-level experts from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) , of the Water and Urban Development Sector Office (“Water and Urban Development Sector Office”).
The Mission aimed to strengthen relations between Portuguese companies in the water sector and BAsD experts, facilitating possible future collaborations.
ADB is one of the main financiers of projects in the Asia and Pacific region, and has several opportunities available in the areas of consultancy, construction, equipment and solutions related to water supply and distribution, sanitation, flood management and flood risks in urban environments, in addition to issues associated with climate resilience and water security, urban solid waste management and urban planning, among others.
The AfDB delegation that visited Portugal was made up of the following experts:
Day 1 – April 8th, 2024
On the first day, in the morning, an institutional welcome was held at the General Secretariat of the Ministry of the Environment, which was attended by representatives from AICEP, GPEARI, ERSAR, LIS-Water and PPA.
During the afternoon, BAsD experts participated in the Seminar “ADB Business Opportunities Seminar – Focus on Water and Urban Development Sector”, at the AICEP Auditorium, in Lisbon, in which they presented the ways in which Portuguese companies can work with the BAsD, both through open opportunities and through the Strategic Plans of the various countries. Time was then given for national companies to present their Pitch to the BAsD experts, and later they had the opportunity to participate in bilateral meetings with them, thus ending the first day.
Day 2 – April 9th, 2024
The second day of the visit began with bilateral meetings.
The meeting point scheduled for the beginning of the afternoon was in Campolide, at the construction site of Lisbon’s largest project, the Lisbon General Drainage Plan, and the afternoon ended with a visit to the Alcântara Water Factory.
