The High-Level Symposium on Water, Bridging SDG 6 and SDG 14 – fresh and saltwater communities working together, will be held in Lisbon – Portugal, on the 27th of June 2022, in the framework of the UN Ocean Conference as one of its Special Events.
The event is organized by the Government of Portugal in close cooperation with the United Nations and the Governments of Argentina, Mozambique and Singapore and is composed of a High-Level Opening Session, three High-Level Roundtables, and a High-Level Closing Session..
The first roundtable, co-hosted by Argentina, is dedicated to “Synergies between SDG6 and SDG14 – an integrated vision of the whole hydrological cycle: strengthening cross-sectoral approaches to accelerate implementation of related targets, including financing and governance”.
The second roundtable, co-hosted by Mozambique, is dedicated to “Water and Sanitation Services bridging SDG6 and SDG14”.
The third roundtable, co-hosted by Singapore, is dedicated to “Existing successful and innovative partnerships to support the implementation of SDG6 and 14: challenges, opportunities and actions”.
To enable broader reflection and participation on the event it has been launched a call for written submissions that will be included in the outcomes of the HSLwater, as an Annex to the Chair’s Summary of the Symposium. This Chair’s Summary will be used to inform the 2023 UN Water Conference, and other sustainable development and water-related processes.
