At the WEX Global Awards Ceremony, held at the Oceanografic in Valencia, on the 3rd of March 2020, an international panel of eight judges is represented by experts in the water and energy sectors, recognized SCUBIC’s excellence and outstanding achievement in relation to innovation, sustainability, efficiency and collaboration.
SCUBIC is Portuguese-based tech-company that is the result of several years of R&D on artificial intelligence, hydraulic optimization and energy efficient solutions at the University of Aveiro. With this knowledge, SCUBIC developed an analytical platform for a real time optimization of smart water distribution networks, to address the needs for a more efficient and real time management of water distribution networks, with the goals to reduce operational costs and to better manage this important resource.
SCUBIC works by gathering different fonts of data as, water consumption, the network hydraulic model, energy prices, meteorology data, energy production. This information is then combined with advanced artificial intelligent and optimization algorithms to predict future water demand (24/48h) and find the least-cost operation on a daily basis. SCUBIC clients are achieving reductions between 5 to 18% on their operational costs, but most importantly reduce carbon emission, increase network security and helping water utilities to be more sustainable.
