The Horizon 2020 project BINGO (Bringing INnovation to onGOing water management) has just been launched! The BINGO Opening Ceremony is open to the public and will take place on Friday 10 July, 9-11:30am, at the LNEC Congress Centre in Lisbon. Please do register on http://web.spi.pt/bingo/
BINGO: Bringing INnovation to onGOing water management – a better future under climate change (2015-2019) aims at providing practical knowledge and tools to end-users, water managers, decision and policy-makers affected by climate change to enable them to better cope with all climate projections, including droughts and floods.
BINGO will provide demand-driven solutions for specific climate related challenges, in particular for highly vulnerable water resources of strategic importance. It will address average and extreme conditions of climate change scenarios in six areas across Europe: Portugal, Spain, Cyprus, Germany, the Netherlands and Norway.
The key outcomes of BINGO include:
- Improved and downscaled climate predictions and projections of climate variables;
- Integrated analysis of the impacts of climate change scenarios on the water cycle;
- Development of guidelines and strategies to aid decision-makers, improve the dialogue between different actors, and raise public awareness and acceptance of the role of climate change.
The 20 BINGO European partners will meet on 9-10 July in Lisbon for the project kick-off meeting. Open to the public and taking place on 10 July at the LNEC Congress Center in Lisbon, the BINGO Opening Ceremony will include a large representation of the scientific community and the civil society connected to the water and the environment, including representatives from universities, research and innovation centers, water authorities and companies. The Ambassadors of the other European countries represented in the consortium – Germany, Cyprus, Spain, the Netherlands and Norway – will participate.
Over 250 people are expected to attend the event, with up to one-third being foreign participants. Please register now for the BINGO Opening Ceremony and meet with Europe’s most relevant representatives in the area of water management and scientific consulting on climate change!
